Pac-10 Football: The speed of the conference.

One can agree or disagree with the old saying “speed kills”.  If talent, hard work, and education are not accompanied with speed, then this saying changes to “speed sits”.  In 2010, the Pac-10 will provide the country with two sub 4.40 times recorded in the forty yard dash. In 2009 ex-Duck Jamere Holland and former Bear, Jahvid Best would have led this list with  4.36 official forty yard times. The forty yard dash can be analyzed to measure quickeness and burst more then how fast a player truly is.  As evident with these athletes, a great forty yard time certainly doesn’t guarantee a players success at the collegiate level. Below are the top official forty yard times in the Pac-10 for the 2010 season and how they compare to the best from around the country.

Top 40-yard dash times in the country

1. Jeff Demps, Florida – 4.26. 2. Brandon McGee, Miami (Fla)  -4.32. 3. Derrick Locke, Kentucky – 4.34. 4. Noel Devine, West Virginia 4.34. 5. Chris Rainey, Florida – 4.34. 6. Bert Reed, Florida State – 4.35.
